Support for a Robust Global Response to the COVID–19 Pandemic

An amendment to HR 4373 introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal on July 27, 2021 and later approved by the House of Representatives. It would instruct the US representative to the IMF to support issuing 1.542 trillion SDR, among other priorities. The amendment was approved by the House of Representatives as part of the House State and Foreign Operations appropriations bill.

HR 986, reintroduced by Rep. Chuy Garcia on February 12, 2021, would instruct the US representative to the IMF to support issuing 2 trillion SDR, among other items.

Robust International Response to Pandemic Act

Reintroduced by Sen. Dick Durbin on January 27, 2021, S 67 directs representatives from the United States to multilateral development banks to help developing countries as they fight COVID-19 — and requires US support for an issuance of at least 2 trillion SDR at the IMF.
